The mission of the Organization of American Kodály Educators is to enrich the quality of life of the people of the USA through music education by promoting the philosophy of Zoltán Kodály.

1994: Idea is planted by Ginger Littleton, Nanci Flesher and Racinda Nygren
1995: Workshop given by Ann Laskey.  Funded by a Western Division Grant for area with no chapter
1996: OAKE Endorsed
1997: Kodaly  Level I Certification at Colorado College taught by Joy Nelson and Dan LeJeune
1998: Kodaly Level II Certification at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs taught by Joy Nelson and Dan LeJeune
1999: no courses- not enough numbers for enrollment at UCCS, searching for a home- found it at CSU Fort Collins
2000: Kodaly Certification Courses begin at CSU
